Lesson 01Introduction to professional skills

Professional skills, also called soft skills, are non technical skills important for workplace. These skills are used with technical knowledge to make a person more valuable to the job. They are transferable, they can be used in different fields. Examples communication, teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and leadership.

Workplace skills are classified into technical skills, soft skills, and transferable skills. Values, beliefs, attitudes, and character shape behavior of a person. Values help make decisions. Beliefs affect how people see the world. Attitudes influence behavior. Character shows moral strength, like trustworthiness and fairness.

The Johari Window model helps people understand themselves and how they interact with others. Professional skills help get jobs, do well at work, and grow career. To improve these skills, keep learning, use them in real life, listen to feedback, and try new challenges. Good professional skills make work easier and help in career success.

What was interesting

What interesting for me was learning how professional skills help in job and career. I not know before that soft skills like teamwork and communication are so important. Also, the Johari Window model was new for me. It show how people see themselves and how others see them. I also like learning about values, beliefs, and attitudes because they shape how people act. Another interesting thing was how skills like problem-solving and adaptability help in any job. I now understand why improving these skills make work easier and help in success.
